The annual festival held in Munich, Germany, generally kicks off around the end of September and lasts for two weeks. It originated as a horse race celebrating the marriage of a Bavarian Crown Prince, who later went on to become King Louis 1, on October 12, 1810. In the following year, the race was combined with the state agricultural fair, and in 1818 booths serving Traditional Bavarian delicacies were first introduced.
