As part of diversification of portfolio, Dubai government entities have partnered with MCI to build an environment for global and regional associations to base themselves in the city. The multiple government agencies have come together under the banner of the Dubai Association Center to help create an attractive business environment for potential association to set up their regional or global basis.
Special legislation is currently under review that would allow for international and regional associations to be formed in the center. The purpose of this legislation is to establish a licensing system in which associations can be established to operate in the Emirate of Dubai. This licensing will establish a business environment in which these organizations can conduct business activities which are within the ethical and legal standards of the Government of Dubai.
Commenting on the opening of the center, Sumaira Isaacs, Managing Director, MCI Middle East and India said, “Dubai for the past decade has been the Middle East and Africa headquarters for most multinational organizations. Increasingly we have being seeing communities of professionals and trade associations coming together to meet, exchange knowledge and network in Dubai. However, there hasn’t been a formal environment where they could establish themselves independently. We see this center as a conduit where global and regional Associations can come in establish themselves independently, operate, manage their communities and grow their markets in the region. We look forward to being part of this exciting phase of Dubai’s growth and being integral partners in the development of the UAE and the region”.
