Abu Dhabi, October 04, 2011: The Al Salam City for labour accommodation, a subsidiary of the Higher Corporation for Specialized Economic Zones (ZonesCorp), organized a marathon for its residents recently. The event witnessed strong competition between the marathon’s 500 participants and organizers ensured that a positive atmosphere was maintained by providing all necessary safety precautions and standards.
At the conclusion of the marathon, ZonesCorp awarded the top five winners with cash prizes in line with its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy and its commitment to supporting the local community and workers in the UAE.
Commenting on the initiative, HE Mohamed Hasan Al Qamzi, CEO of ZonesCorp, said: “This marathon is one of the many CSR initiatives that ZonesCorp has participated in or organized, and it reflects our commitment towards the UAE community and the residents of the Al Salam City. ZonesCorp recognizes the efforts of our workers in developing the UAE’s production and economic sectors, and in enhancing its infrastructure. They are an integral part of the community and of the UAE’s growth.”
Marathon participants expressed their joy at the event, and thanked ZonesCorp for its initiative which reflected its commitment towards all segments of the community and to workers in the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi Executive Council had previously assigned ZonesCorp the task of developing labour accommodation cities that met global standards and reflected the Emirate’s cultural, industrial and economic growth. ZonesCorp has developed and is currently managing 5 industrial cities and 17 labour residence cities housing over 300,000 workers from different locations in Abu Dhabi. The residential cities utilize fast and light building systems to allow for their completion in the shortest possible time to meet market requirements. ZonesCorp ensures that its labour accommodation solutions provide its residents with a safe and stable environment, which in turn helps them in maintaining a positive work attitude and motivates them to provide their best efforts.
